We're thrilled to highlight Mason Blankenship, who has been an integral part of the Ciholas team for the past 11 years. As a Senior Software Engineer, Mason serves as the software team's technical lead on our CUWB system's CUWB Viewer, CUWB Manager, and Netapp components. He brings a wealth of expertise and passion to our projects.
Mason's journey into software engineering was sparked by his love for video games, which led him to explore and eventually fall in love with software development. In college, he studied Computer Science at the University of Evansville. As a fan of video games, one of his most exciting projects at Ciholas has been leading the development of our 3D CUWB Viewer, built on the Unity gaming engine. "I also enjoyed developing a virtual maze game to work in the CUWB Viewer to allow us to demonstrate our UWB system at local career fairs," Mason says.
One of the projects Mason was most proud to be involved in was for a large client in the entertainment industry. "At the time we took on that project, we only had back-of-the-napkin plans for how to implement our phase-based orientation technology, and other firms that the client was working with had at least a year head start on us," he says. "We managed to implement that fundamental phase orientation technology for their product launch." Mason spent many months flying back and forth to the client to help get the project done on time. "Even with a very tight timeline, we managed to pull it off, and the client has come back to us with multiple new projects since then, so they were clearly pleased with our work."
Outside of work, Mason enjoys playing video games, Pickleball, Dungeons & Dragons, and watching anime. He's also ventured into game development, aiming to publish a game on Steam someday. We are proud to have Mason as a dedicated and talented member of the Ciholas team!
